A Note on Our Visit to Haa

This post features student writing.

We arrived yesterday evening in the breathtaking Haa Valley and have spent a very peaceful day in the valley, just exploring and meeting local farmers.

Next to the guesthouse is a farmhouse, and we got up early to go over there and learn how to milk the cows. Later in the afternoon, we returned for butter tea, which tastes like liquid popcorn.

Mid-morning we hiked a bit to reach another farmhouse, where we met Kuenzang. She taught us how buckwheat and grasses would be harvested.

The hospitality that we have received here has been absolutely wonderful—everyone we have met is so friendly and eager to show us what their lives are like. They are not quite used to Americans, but welcome us with grace and honor.
